Significance:

Kalinganarthana is one of the best-loved Krishna Leelas. As a boy in Vrindavan, Krishna subdued the poisonous serpent Kaliya, who had made the Yamuna river toxic, by dancing on his many hoods. He spared Kaliya and sent him away, restoring the river for the people and cattle of Gokulam. The scene celebrates the victory of good over evil and Krishna's protection of his devotees.
